Buy a pre-owned Dior watch or jewel at The Swiss Collector
Founded in Paris in 1946 by Christian Dior, the house of Dior has extended its couture expertise into watchmaking and jewellery over the decades. The first Dior watches appeared in 1975. In 2001, the house established its own watchmaking facility in La Chaux-de-Fonds (the Ateliers Horlogers Dior) and has since developed calibres in collaboration with Swiss manufacturers. Under the artistic direction of Victoire de Castellane for jewellery since 1998, Dior has built a distinct identity around colour, sculpted volumes and invisible setting techniques. The D de Dior, Grand Bal, Dior VIII, Gem Dior and Dior Colours collections cover a broad range, from jewellery watches to high jewellery. At The Swiss Collector, our selection of pre-owned Dior watches and jewellery is certified by our experts.
Dior in Watchmaking and Jewellery
The First Watches (1975–2001)
Christian Dior launched its first watch collections in 1975, designed primarily as fashion accessories to complement the couture collections. Watches from this period were produced in Switzerland in a classic, understated style without specific horological ambitions.
Entering Fine Watchmaking (2001–2010)
In 2001, Dior established its own workshops in La Chaux-de-Fonds and began developing movements in collaboration with Swiss manufacturers. In 2003, Victoire de Castellane designed the D de Dior : the house's first jewellery watch, with a "D"-shaped case in gold, mother-of-pearl and stone settings. In 2004, the Chiffre Rouge introduced the first men's model, with a calibre developed exclusively for Dior by Zenith. In 2011, the Dior VIII collection launched in New York : ceramic case, graphic dial, available in limited editions.
Current Collections (2010–Today)
The Grand Bal, presented at SIHH, features a tourbillon and a visible oscillating weight on the dial side : the most technically ambitious complication in the house's catalogue. In 2018, Victoire de Castellane launched Gem Dior : seven watches and eleven jewels built around asymmetry, coloured stones and sculptural volumes. The Dior Colours and Dior Un Deux Trois collections complete the range with modular pieces and jewellery in gold and coloured resin.

Dior vs Chanel vs Cartier : Which to Choose ?
Dior
A relevant choice for those seeking a watch with a strong couture identity and a distinct artistic direction (colour, asymmetry, invisible setting). The offer is primarily feminine. The secondary market value is lower than Chanel or Cartier on standard models, but Grand Bal pieces and Gem Dior limited editions hold up well.
Chanel
More solid secondary market performance on the J12 and Première. Stronger watchmaking positioning with the in-house calibre 12.1. Also a primarily feminine range, but available in a wider range of sizes.
Cartier
Broader offer (men and women), generally higher secondary market value on flagship models (Santos, Tank, Panthère). A longer watchmaking heritage, more widely recognised among enthusiasts.
Our TSC view
Dior is a sound choice for a jewellery watch or a high jewellery piece with a distinctive couture aesthetic. The D de Dior for an everyday jewellery watch, the Grand Bal for a horological complication, Gem Dior for coloured jewellery.

Servicing
Dior recommends a full service every 4 to 5 years for automatic movement watches. Calibres developed in collaboration with Zenith are reliable, but regular maintenance preserves water resistance and accuracy. For jewellery, professional cleaning every 2 to 3 years maintains stone brilliance and the integrity of invisible settings.
