Buy a pre-owned Tudor watch at The Swiss Collector
Founded in Geneva in 1926 by Hans Wilsdorf (also the founder of Rolex) Tudor has progressively established itself as an independent manufacture in Swiss quality watchmaking. The brand has produced its own calibres since 2015, all COSC-certified, and several since 2024 carrying METAS certification (Master Chronometer), the most demanding precision and anti-magnetism standard in the sector. Its price positioning (between CHF 3,000 and CHF 7,000 for the majority of its range) makes it one of the most competitive options on the market for a Swiss manufacture watch. The Black Bay, Pelagos, Black Bay Chrono, Ranger and Royal collections cover a wide range, from technical dive watches to sport-elegant timepieces. At The Swiss Collector, our selection of pre-owned Tudor watches is certified by our experts and updated regularly.
The History of Tudor : From Sister Brand to Autonomous Manufacture
The Origins (1926–2010)
Hans Wilsdorf created Tudor in 1926 to offer reliable watches at a lower price point than Rolex, using Rolex cases and quality ébauche movements. The brand supplied several naval forces in the 1950s–70s, including the French Marine Nationale, the US Navy and the South African Navy : a collaboration that directly influences its current collections. Vintage Tudor models from the 1960s–70s (Submariner, Monte Carlo) are actively sought by collectors today.
Creative Independence and Revival (2010–2015)
From 2010, Tudor took its own creative direction with the launch of the Black Bay in 2012 : the first diving watch directly rooted in its 1950s heritage. The brand relaunched its visual identity with the "Born to Dare" campaign and new sporting partnerships. This period marked a definitive break from Tudor's positioning as a Rolex entry-level brand.
The Manufacture Era (2015–Today)
In 2015, Tudor launched its first in-house calibres (MT5000 series), developed in collaboration with Breitling for chronographs. Since 2024, several calibres carry METAS certification (Master Chronometer), guaranteeing accuracy of 0/+5 seconds per day and resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. In 2025, Tudor presented at Watches and Wonders the Pelagos Ultra (1,000 m water resistance, CHF 6,030), the Black Bay 68 (43 mm) and a Black Bay 58 in burgundy with a sunburst dial.

Tudor vs Omega vs TAG Heuer
Tudor
The best manufacture-to-price ratio in its segment. COSC and METAS calibres, steel or titanium case, well-finished throughout. Secondary market depreciation is more marked than Rolex, but liquidity is good. A relevant choice for those who want a technical Swiss manufacture watch under CHF 5,000.
Omega
Higher price positioning (CHF 5,000 to CHF 12,000 for the Seamaster range). Recognised Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibres, stronger general public recognition. Generally more solid secondary market performance on flagship models.
TAG Heuer
Comparable price positioning to Tudor on Aquaracer models. In-house Heuer 02 calibre since 2017. Motorsport DNA rather than diving. Similar entry prices, but a less developed technical diving range than Tudor.
Our TSC view
For a Swiss manufacture dive watch at a controlled budget (CHF 2,500 – CHF 5,000), Tudor is hard to beat. The Black Bay 58 for proportions and style, the Pelagos for technical diving, the Black Bay Chrono for a manufacture chronograph.

Servicing
Tudor recommends a full service every 7 years. The in-house MT5000 calibres are robust and reliable. Diving models (Pelagos, Black Bay) should undergo a water resistance test at each service, particularly if the watch is used for active diving.
