The square par excellence, one of the most emblematic designs from the house of Hermès. In 1957, Robert Dumas worked with Hugo Grygkar. He places two sumptuous bridles face to face on the floor, and the obvious becomes clear: the composition is perfect, unrivalled in its sobriety, the square is there. This square bears witness to the original destiny of the company - saddler, harness-maker - a timeless classic! Its subject? Equestrian, of course. On the right, two mermaids rise from a cornucopia, brandishing the imperial crown. This piece, in the Émile Hermès collection, was one of the harnesses made for the Emperor of Mexico, Maximilian of Austria. On the left, on the eyelet, the coat of arms of the Comtes de Ferronnays, whose collection includes some very fine harness pieces from the 18th century
