Heuer Daytona Blue Dial Vintage Reference: 110.203B

Heuer Vintage Daytona Chronograph Calibre 12 Chronomatic, first launched in 1969 as Calibre 11 on the Monaco, Carrera and Autavia models. The movement is housed behind a case back also inspired by that offered on the Chronosplit, with the reference number and serial number engraved on the case back.

One of the watch's distinctive features is the integrated steel bracelet, which means that, as the watch has no "lugs", having a leather strap is not possible. The Daytona was not the only steel Heuer model with an integrated bracelet, sharing several design elements with the Heuer Cortina that followed a year later in 1977. The two watches share a very similar dial, the same movement, a similar case size and an integrated bracelet.

But while the Cortina was pointed and octagonal, the Daytona was rounded and soft, with a brushed steel finish and a Plexiglas glass that blended seamlessly into the case.

The Daytona chronograph adopted its "pebble" shape and case finish from the radical 1975 Heuer Chronosplit, although the Daytona uses a traditional mechanical movement, rather than the Chronosplit's LED/LCD movement. Both watches also have a steel bracelet designed to be an extension of the case.


Blue double-counter dial, date window at 6 o'clock and tachometer on the outside of the dial. The blue Daytona is a relatively common model, whose beautiful "midnight blue" dial contrasts with the stainless steel case and hands. As with other vintage Heuer chronographs that used dark blue dials (for example, the Monaco and Skipper), the blue Daytona's dials are subject to color changes over the years, often becoming considerably lighter towards the center. Both dial colors, blue and smoked, feature a black inner tachymeter flange, which frames the dial perfectly.
