The story of this Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Lady watch
Born in 1931 for polo players, the Reverso embodies Art Deco watchmaking from the Vallée de Joux with its swivelling case designed to protect the glass. This pre-owned luxury watch by Jaeger-LeCoultre keeps the emblematic rectangular form and the sober legibility of Reverso watches. Dated 1999, it belongs to the collection of Jaeger-LeCoultre watches sought after by collectors (ref. 260.840.082), a flagship model to discover among Jaeger-LeCoultre pre-owned watches. The watchmaking history of the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand dates back to 1833, carried by Antoine LeCoultre, Jacques-David LeCoultre and Edmond Jaeger, and includes numerous Reverso models, including Reverso Grande, Reverso Duetto and Grande Reverso Ultra Thin.
Case, calibre and bracelet
The 20 × 33 mm steel case, with its characteristic gadroons, swivels with a sure action, true to Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watches and their Art Deco design. Beneath the sapphire crystal, the light dial displays hours and minutes driven by the quartz calibre 608, precise and easy to live with every day. Water resistance is rated to 30 m. The five-row steel bracelet completes the high-end watchmaking look and suits women’s watches. Originally designed to be capable of withstanding the shocks of a polo match, the Reverso remains an elegant timepiece with a unique design.
Why this watch
An instantly recognisable icon, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso watch appeals with its Art Deco style, visual finesse and practicality inherited from British officers fond of polo. On the secondary market, this pre-owned Reverso offers excellent access to the Jaeger-LeCoultre universe at a relatively strong price point, without giving up the brand’s watchmaking DNA. It is aimed at those who wish to join the Reverso range and the Reverso models by Jaeger-LeCoultre while favouring a discreet and timeless piece. Alongside other creations of the Maison—from manual winding to chronographs, up to the Ultra Thin families in pink gold—this steel reference remains a sound choice to discover among all our watches.
