The caliber 321 was the first movement to equip the Speedmaster. Already used on other OMEGA chronographs, in particular those in the Seamaster collection, it was distinguished by its use of the column-wheel, a device fashioned from a single part whose technical sophistication provided a certain added value. Column-wheel movements required very precise design and construction, making them very popular with collectors today. Although the caliber was slightly modified throughout its life, it remained the symbolic movement of the OMEGA Speedmaster for more than ten years.
